In this talk, I will present our recent results on using existing 3D printer
hardware to reproduce the look of physical materials. I will show that
3D printing can be seen as an optimization approach and introduce a
method to reproduce isotropic and anisotropic reflectance functions.
I will then discuss a variety of other 3D printing problems.
This talk is not meant to be an exhaustive introduction to the topic,
but an overview on interesting concerns on fabrication that can
be address with computational methods.
