Mathematics for the Environment
Research interests of this group consist in the mathematical approach to the observation and measurements relevant to environment and climate and the diagnostic/prognostic study of natural and anthropic processes related to them.
Innovative mathematical tools are used and devepoled, both as mathematical models and as solution techniques. The researches include the following activities.
- mathematical modeling for the study of ecosystems and environmental fluid dynamics (hydrology, glaciology).
- remote-sensing data analysis for atmospheric modeling, applied metereology and climatology. Quantitative estimate of polluters.
- mitigation of the environmental impact of the transportation system, both as optimization techniques of the activities, and with the delevopmente of new tecnologies such as the heterogeneous catalysis.
