COMMUNICATION TRAINING DAYS AT IAC-CNR

The National Research Council of Italy (CNR), Institute for Applied Computing (IAC) "M. Picone", in collaboration with the Earth system science and environmental technologies Department, organizes a first experimental training laboratory about science communication for its researchers ont he 12nd and 13rd of February 2020, at the IAC-CNR headquarter in via dei Taurini, 19.

The objectives of the IAC-CNR communication training days on the 12/13 of February 2020 is to improve the science communication skills of its own researchers, both in terms of contents, organizing the work per thematic areas and different targets, and in terms of verbal and nonverbal communication, evaluating the works produced at the end of the laboratories. Attention will be also given to group communication and to cross-fertilization among IAC-CNR research areas. This is a first experiment for the area of Rome which could be replicated for other IAC venues as well, showing IAC-CNR will to efficaciously communicate science.

During the first day on the 12nd of February, after the introductory greetings by Roberto Natalini IAC-CNR director, and Silvia Mattoni, CNR Communication and Public Relation Unit referee, speeches about the theme by Silvia Bencivelli, in the morning, and Luca Balletti, in the afternoon, will be given. Silvia Bencivelli is doctor, science journalist and radio and TV host. Luca Balletti is mathematician and project manager of science dissemination activities at the CNR Communication and Public Relation Unit.

During the morning on the 13rd of February, Margherita Cappelletto and Luigi Mazari Villanova will execute, with the IAC-CNR staff support, a participatory exercise called “Innovative Algorythm Communication”, where IAC-CNR researchers will be engaged in various thematic communication laboratories, with a final evaluation by an ad hoc constituted management board. Margherita Cappelletto is astrophysics, and manages the Bluemed project coordinated by DTA CNR. Luigi Mazari Villanova is a physicist and supports national and artic projects at the DTA CNR.

The Organizing Committee of the event is composed by Roberto Natalini, IAC-CNR Director, Barbara De Filippo, head of IAC-CNR Research Coordination Office and Technology Transfer, Mara Di Berardo, IAC-CNR Research Fellow in Communication, Margherita Cappelletto, DTA CNR technologist, Luigi Mazari Villanova, DTA CNR technologist, Luca Balletti, CNR Communication and Public Relation Unit project manager
