Mathematics of Super-Resolution. Recovery of atomic measures from finite number of moments

2019-03-04

Seminario del prof. Frank Filbir (ICB Institute of Computational Biology, Helmholtz Zentrum München, e TUM Technische Universität München), lunedì 04/03/2019 ore 11:00, presso l'Area di Ricerca del CNR in Via Pietro Castellino, 111 Napoli (aula seminari IGB II piano).

Super-resolution in its classical formulation refers to the problem of recovering a measure, which is a linear combination of  Dirac measures, from its first N moments. This problem is of great interest in signal and image processing, in machine learning and other fields in applied mathematics. We will discuss how this problem can be uniquely solved via a minimization problem in the space of measures. Special emphasis will be placed on the generalization of the method to signals defined on certain Riemannian manifolds like the unit sphere, or the group of rotation matrices.

The talk is based on joined work with Dr. Kristof Schroder.
